Save Time and Money With A
Crock-Pot
If you haven't noticed, the staid
old Crock Pot or
slow cooker is
making a rousing comeback. Not only is it handy for
bachelors, working moms and single parents, but it's a great
convenience for those who don't want to spend a lot of time
cooking. In addition, it's an energy
saver.
And what better time to begin using this
time and money-saving device. With fall upon us and winter just
around the corner, soups and stews which are ideal for making
in a Crock
Pot, are welcomed
fare for lunch or dinner on those cold, blustery days. And
when you don't have to slave to put a mouth-watering dish on
the table, it just makes it all the more
enjoyable.

Save On
Entertainment
With the cost of theatre tickets over
$5.00 apiece and a small box of popcorn costing about the
same, renting DVD's for entertaining family and friends
is infinitely cheaper than a trip to the local cineplex,
and popcorn will only cost you a few cents per serving.
You can rent DVD's now at your local video store, online
video store, grocery store and even McDonald's. Your
viewing pattern and location will dictate where you get
the DVD's.
If you're an occasional viewer and don't
really care if you have the latest and greatest movie to
watch, then a DVD rental from your local supermarket or
McDonald's will do just fine and probably be the least
expensive. If you're a little more particular about what
you want to see, the local video store is your next best
bet although it will cost you a few dollars
more.
But if you're a movie connoisseur, you
might want to think about an online subscription at
either Blockbuster or Netflix. Both have literally thousands of movies
to choose from, much more than could even be offered in a
bricks-and-mortar store. However, the plans between the two are
different.
Blockbuster has 3 plans -- 1, 2, 3
or 3-at-a-time delivered DVD's beginning at
$8.99/month. The unique thing about Blockbuster is that you can increase the number of
rentals simply by returning the DVD that is mailed
to you to a local Blockbuster store. The store returns the online DVD and
allows you to rent one at the store for free (up to the
the limit of your plan). The savings could really mount up
if your a movie addict.
Netflix has multiple plans beginning at $4.99 for
two movies per month -- with a kicker. With Netflix you can now watch movies on your PC
immediately without having to wait for your DVD in the
mail.

Halloween Savings
Did you know
that a Halloween costume will cost the average American
family around $60? Wow, that's enough to blow the light
out in the pumpkin. If you have a few kids to dress up,
you could end up spending a bundle. What's the
answer? Voila! A costume
exchange. We wrote about this last year and thought the
idea warranted another look this year -- and maybe every
year.
PreSchoolRock.com
oringinated the online
version and is celebrating their second year offering a
FREE costume exchange (does not include shipping). This
year it's bigger and better than ever.
You'll find a good selection of costumes and
accessories.
If you're creative, what's wrong with
making your own costumes. We found a funky site with wierd
musicthat might drive you crazy but some great ideas
for homemade costumes.
Here are more inexpensive costume
ideas.
Organize your own costume
exchange, similar to a garage sale but
instead you'd be exchanging costumes. Just
invite friends and neighbors over on a Saturday or Sunday
afternoon to an exchange party. Tell them to bring all
their old Halloween costumes that are too small.
Surely others at the exchange could wear
them.
